Araneta City officially unveiled its Pride mural, “Free to be HUE,” this morning, June 2, 2026, at the New Frontier Theater arcade along Gen. Roxas Avenue.
Serving as the centerpiece of Araneta City’s Pride Month campaign this year, the mural celebrates individuality, inclusivity, and the freedom to be oneself. Spanning 9.78 meters wide and 5.24 meters high, the artwork was designed by artist Mikaela David and brought to life by muralist Marco Gordola.
Esteemed guests who joined the unveiling ceremony are (from right to left):
● Mayor of Quezon City, Hon. Ma. Josefina “Joy” G. Belmonte;
● Vice President for Marketing of Araneta City, Ms. Marjorie Go
● Head of Quezon City Gender and Development Council, Ms. Janete Oviedo
● Officer in Charge of Quezon City Tourism Department, Ms. Giana Aira Barata
● Community Organizer of Galang Philippines, Ms. Joan Oliveros
● President of Tibo Quezon City Federation, Zabdiel Tolentino
More than a work of art, this mural serves as a reminder that every person who enters Araneta City should feel seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are.
After the unveiling, esteemed guests took part in painting the mural’s final touches, contributing to the shared artwork.
Today’s event marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of Pride in Araneta City. Throughout June, the City of Firsts looks forward to bringing the community together through activities and initiatives that promote visibility, inclusivity, creativity, and meaningful engagement.
